2026 Charmed.ca Battle At the Bridge Tournament rules + Information

Please ensure your players, parents, coaches, and spectators show respect to our refs, scorekeepers, and gym marshals and show sportsmanship throughout the tournament! Thanks!!

  • Coaches, please provide your own warm up basketballs. One team from each game will need to provide a game ball to the officials.

  • The Home team is listed first or on top of the draw. Away teams are listed second or on the bottom. If both teams have the same colour jerseys, please adjust and/or switch uniforms as needed.

  • All age groups will play on a 10-foot net.

  • Ice/ice packs and basic First Aid kits are available at the scorekeeper table or accessible from the LMBA Gym Marshal.

  • Any coach/parent/fan ejected from a game will NOT be allowed back into the facilities for the remainder of the tournament. 

  • Each team will NEED to supply a parent rep for each game that will be introduced to the refs before each game. This parent rep will be in charge of talking to parents/spectators at the discretion of the officials.

  • All 3 Player of the Game coupons will be given out at your first game in a team package. Hand these out as you see fit!

  • June Only: Swag bags will be given out before or after your first game by the Gym Marshal.

  • Please keep benches clean and exit promptly. If you are waiting for your bench, please be courteous and allow the other team to leave before entering. Once teams have access to the bench, your warmup time will start.

NOTE: Overage players are not permitted in Battle at the Bridge. This is an Alberta Basketball Association guideline and as an Alberta Basketball Association sanctioned organization, LMBA and Battle at the Bridge will allow NO EXCEPTIONS this year to that rule. U11 Born 2015 or later, U13 Born 2013/2014, U15 Born 2011/2010

Modified FIBA Rules will be played. Modifications are as follows:

  • Timeouts one per quarter and one in overtime. Unused timeouts are not carried forward.

  • No Mercy Rule for game score will occur. The actual points of each game will be posted on the scoreboard.

  • Minimum 5 minute warm up. If time permits, then more will be given. Games will not start early.  

  • Half time will be 2 minutes, 1 minute between quarters.

U11 Divisions

  • 12-minute run time quarters 

  • The clock will only stop for fouls, timeouts, or if requested by officials.

  • There will be STOP time for the last 2 minutes of the game.

  • Any team found stalling or using unfair advantage of the clock during changes of possession will forfeit their possession to the other team.

  • NO full court press at any time!

  • Players may shoot free throws 2-feet in from the standard free throw line if needed

U13/U15 Divisions

  • 4, 8 min quarters – regular stop time 

Overtime: 

  • Sudden death – first team to score wins with a maximum of 2 min play time.

  • If no one scores by the end of 2 minutes, a free throw shoot off will occur.

  • If the first team to shoot a free throw scores and the other team does not, the first team wins.  Note: A new player must shoot for each round of the shoot off.

  • NO zone halfcourt defense is permitted at any time

  • If a team is ahead by 20 points, they must NOT press. Please adjust your play should you have a skill advantage and find you are much stronger than your opponent.

  • If a team uses a full court zone type press, they must drop back into a man-to-man defense once the ball enters the front court. 

  • If an official observes a team in a zone defense, a bench warning will be issued.  

  • 2nd offense, a team technical foul will be given. 

  • If two technical fouls are given in any one game, the coach will be removed from the gym for the duration of the game.
